There are three basic requirements for learning to fly airplanes in the United States:
- You have to be at least 16 years old to apply for a student pilot license and at least 17 to apply for a private pilot license.
- You have to be in good health. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires anyone who wants to become a pilot (or continue to be a pilot) with a Class III medical to pass a routine medical exam every two to three years. Allowances are made for many physical limitations. You can obtain a list of FAA-designated physicians from the Angel Air Flight Center.
- You have to be able to read, speak, write, and understand English.

Commercial Certificate FAQ's
Q. What does a commercial license allow me to do?
A. Your commercial license allows you to offer your piloting services for hire.
Q. How does a commercial license affect my insurance?
A. If you own your own aircraft, a commercial certificate will
reduce your insurance rates significantly. If you don’t own your own plane, a commercial
certificate often will allow you to rent aircraft that you otherwise would not be able to
and generally reduces the amount of time in type requirements of most rental insurance’.
Q. Do I have to have a different medical certificate?
A. Yes, in order to exercise most commercial privileges, you must obtain at
least a second class medical certificate.

Private Pilot FAQs
Q. What can I do with a Private Pilot’s License?
A. As a Private Pilot there are thousands of airports around the
country at your disposal. You have the ability to fly to airports
with no scheduled airline service that are closer to your destination,
no more hassles or waiting in security lines, and most importantly
the freedom to operate on your schedule rather than the airlines, day or night!
Q. How long does it take to get your license?
A. Earning your Pilots license isn’t like going to school, you have the
ability to set your schedule with your instructor, so that learning is
accomplished at a rate that is comfortable with your needs and goals. Most
of our Private Pilots earn their license between 3-6 months.
Q. Do I have to go to a traditional ground school?
A. No!! We are a Cessna Pilot Center™ and we utilize a revolutionary CD ROM
Multimedia course that allows our students to learn at a significantly faster
rate and with higher retention! The best part about our multimedia program is
that it costs only $299, it saves you money and you can reuse it as much as
